Nostalgia

Hey Everyone! So today was chill as usual. Woke up, got ready, and headed to Fort Funston to get some shots in since it was supposed to be sunny/partly cloudy. I haven’t been there in a LONG time so I was ready for a perfect day of shooting. I was wrong. It was overcast by the beach and the sky was white like a sheet. It kind of ruined a lot of the warm, sunny shots I was going for today, but I tried to make due with what I had. I noticed that a lot of people were hang gliding, too. It looks pretty fun, but you wouldn’t ever catch me up on one. I tried to take some shots of people taking off, but I had to move because I was in the way of people landing apparently. I ended up getting frustrated and shooting my Bronica ETR for the remainder of the day. I can’t wait to get the rolls that have been building up developed. That was it for today.

I thought since this is a photo journal type of thing that I should start posting photographers that really inspire me. Here are two of my favorites:

^^ Araki Nobuyoshi (荒木経惟) . Most of his work is very erotic, sometimes controversial, and even on the borderline of pornographic, but what he captures is pure art and passion. Recently, he even did a shoot with Lady Gaga. He’s definitely one of the most iconic photographers in Japan, I’d say. Definitely check out his work (be careful where you do it as there is a lot of nudity).

^^ Moriyama Daido (森山大道) . This guy is THE street photographer in my opinion. He captures such unique images that have a life of their own. They’re contrasty, grainy, b&w, and above all, interesting. I’ve seen a lot of his work online and am amazed at some of the shots he gets. Be on the look out for his stuff as well.

So thanks everyone for looking today! Here are a few of the pictures I took today. They’re on flickr as usual:
