Hello everyone! So… Today is my birthday! I had a pretty chill day.. I mainly just wanted to relax and do nothing. I basically just ate all day ahaha. Thanks mom for buying me dinner.

It’s weird how time goes by. 19 years. Thinking about everything that has happened in the past 19 years is kind of amazing yet scary at the same time. Time itself is a scary concept in my opinion, but just thinking about it… 19 years, 228 months, 988 weeks, 6935 days. Kind of weird thinking about it, right?

So last week I decided that I would hit more people up for portraits so I can put together a proper portfolio. My goal right now is to get my sh*t together and have something I can submit to a modeling agency. I already have a few pictures I would like to use, but I definitely need to become a lot better and expand my work a lot more as well.

Today, Jasmine was kind enough to let me take some shots of her. I used my broken 50 1.4 (lol) for the shoot and although the images aren’t sharp since I shot wide open, I like the lens a lot. I probably took less than 20 shots since I just need a couple presentable ones, but I still ended up keeping around half. Thank you Jasmine!

Hey everyone! I thought I would update my blog before I go to work. Since I normally don’t get too in depth with my life when I make these posts, I had to think about whether or not I wanted to do this, but I thought I would make an exception this time. I would hope that this can be taken seriously and make people think about things we take for granted in life.

Recently, my Grandmother had to be hospitalized since she fell down. Not too many people know this, but she has a disease called Dementia. She’s pretty limited mentally and can barely remember things that have occurred minute to minute. She has forgotten me and the rest of my family and pretty much relies on instinct.

It’s hard dealing with somebody that used to be a mother figure who now doesn’t even know your name. Forgetting things and being trapped by your own mind is painfully, but I believe being forgotten can be just as bad. That is one main reason why I like photography.

The main reason why I enjoy photography is to capture memories that can be perserved forever. Each frame I shoot is physical proof of existence and if one day I forget everything, I can leave behind a legacy for my children and their children to see. So they can say “Wow Steven used to do this and that,” or “Wow he’s been here and there.” It’s all very sentimental and you guys reading may not have the same values as I do, but that’s my view on things.

Thanks for everyone who decided to read that.. Here’s a couple shots from my trip there.

School. Work. School. Work..

The cycle continues.

Haven’t been shooting much lately. Here are some old candids I took. #film.

Final Frame.

Hey everyone! So today Phuey and I did a shoot with Keem and Darion. I drove Phuey’s car down to Antioch from West Oakland to a great spot. Phuey brought along his reflector which made the whole shoot just great. Overall I took about 240 shots and had about 35 keepers.. Just where I wanted it to be. It was really hot the whole day, but they both did their thing. Thanks again Keem and Darion. Thanks for introducing me to new models, Phuey.

Hey everyone! So today was pretty chill. I thought it was going to rain, bu luckily it was sunny for most of the day. I met up with Phuey earlier before class started and he wanted to have some pictures of himself. So we walked around part of campus taking pictures for him. After that, class then went home. I have a Kanji midterm next week so I have to study a lot for it.. Bummer.

I recently made a photo book that is available here:

My Book.

If you could purchase one it would be greatly appreciated! It’s just photos I’ve taken over the past year, most (maybe half?) of which haven’t made it on the blog.

Thanks for coming everyone!
